Questions people ask first
Does it work on the back paws too?
Most dogs take to the front paws first, because that scratching motion is already natural to them. For the back paws, prop the board at an angle against a step or low wall so your dog can push backwards into it, the same kick they do after they go. Some dogs never take to the back paws on their own, and those you will still need to do by hand.
Can it hurt their paw pads?
The filing surface is 80 and 100 grit sandpaper. It is coarse enough to shorten a nail, and your dog controls every bit of the pressure, which is the whole point of the design. Keep the first few sessions short and check their pads afterwards the way you would after a long walk on hot pavement.
Is this really safer than clippers?
It removes the risk that makes people dread nail trims, which is cutting into the quick and drawing blood. Filing takes off a little at a time instead of removing a chunk in one go. We still include a clipper and a file in the kit, because a long nail sometimes needs a trim first and most dogs need a hand with the back paws.
What if my dog just ignores it?
That is what the treat drawer is for. Load it, put the board down, and let them work at it on their own. Most dogs start scratching within a few sessions because you are rewarding an instinct they already have rather than teaching them something new. If it never clicks for your dog, send it back within 30 days.
Does it work for small dogs and large dogs?
Both. The board does not adjust to the dog, the dog scratches at whatever angle suits them. Puppies and very small breeds usually take longer simply because there is less weight behind each scratch.
How fast does it arrive, and what if it does not work out?
It ships from the USA, so you are not waiting on a container from overseas. Flat 3.99 shipping, free over 50 dollars. If it is not for you, you have 30 days to send it back and we will not interrogate you about why.
